Magnesium absorption and excretion

The magnesium intake (absorption) takes place in the small intestine, however, there is only absorbed to a third. We have with the food 300 milligrams of magnesium to stand undisturbed at receiving only about 100 milligrams of the organism actually available. Protein and vitamin D stimulate the intestinal absorption of magnesium, also parathyroid hormone and growth hormone. The urine magnesium excess is eliminated from the body, but not the kidney separates the nutrient simply completely – this would have disastrous consequences. With normal renal function, the most magnesium is recovered in the renal tubules and the body is still available.
